SCG’s Packing Tips: Espresso Machines over 35 lbs
Earlier this week, our trusty compatriot Tristan showed us his tips on how to pack up a machine that weighs less than 35 lbs. This covers all of those little single boilers and most superautomatics, but the big bad boys — heat exchangers and double boilers — need a little extra lovin’ to ensure they show up at their destination in tip top shape.
Watch as he walks us through his recommendations for packing machines that weigh over 35 lbs.

Great video but the box should be at least double walled if not triple, and 275lb crush tested. Peanuts have a habit of getting in everywhere especially the small particles. I agree in putting the machine into a HEAVY plastic bag, not a cheap trash liner, and make sure the end is wrapped and sealed with packing tape. This will prevent small particles from getting into the unit. One would have to pay a little extra for a double wall/triple wall 275lb test box but it will be worth it the way UPS tosses everything around. Another trick is to make peanut pillows. Medium thick plastic bags filled with packing peanuts then taped securely. Even heavy duty freezer bags will work.
You guys put up some great videos!!
Thanks
Charlie
